A Chinese tapestry is a grid composed of threads that are fixed on a large frame known as a loom.  Verticle threads are known as the warp and horizontal threads are known as the wefts.  The wefts are actually a large collection of separate pieces of wool thread in all different colors.  Chinese tapestries depict a wide range of subjects including historical events, mythological scenes, landscapes, and floral motifs.
