The U-Thong Style Gilded Bronze Buddha is one of the definitive styles for Buddha icons that developed in Thailand (Siam) during different periods. These styles exhibit certain common features, including a small band between the hairline and forehead, a robe draped over the shoulder ending in a straight line, fingers of unequal lengths, a small somewhat spiky curl hairstyle, and seated posture with folded legs. The U-Thomg style of seated Buddha statues is a significant representation of Thai Buddha art, originating from the U-Thong period (circa 13th - 15th centuries). These statues are known for their distinctive features and symbolic jestures. The Buddha is tyupivally depicted in a cross-legged yogic posture known as satvaparyankassana, with the right leg placed over the left. The right hand is often overed with long finers pointing downward in the earth-touching gesture.
